About the Speaker

Doug Lemov
Doug Lemov is a teacher, coach, and author best known for his groundbreaking book Teach Like a Champion, now in its 3.0 version, a comprehensive guide to the classroom techniques of the most effective teachers in the country.
He's also the co-author of the Teach Like a Champion Guide to the Science of Reading, co-written with Colleen Driggs and Erica Woolway, which describes how cognitive science can be better applied to the teaching of reading.
Doug has spent decades studying what separates great teachers from the rest — and translating those insights into practical, replicable techniques that educators can use immediately.
Doug is also a passionate soccer coach and author of The Coach's Guide to Teaching. He has coached youth and collegiate soccer and served as a technical advisor for professional clubs, bringing the same lens of deliberate practice and skill development to the athletic field.
Doug holds a BA in English from Hamilton College, an MA in English Literature from Indiana University, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
He and his wife live in upstate New York. They have three children whom they hope they raised sensibly and with limits, and a dog, Pepper, to whom they can't seem to say no.
